Exhibition "Crisálida »

Genalguacil Pueblo Museo, Genalguacil.

Commissioner Nerea Ubieto

Crisálida

The Franco-Andalusian artist Marie-Isabelle Poirier Troyano (Antequera, 1970), resident in Genalguacil, exhibits for the first time and individually all the aesthetic power of her work in an exhibition that brings together some of her first works with her most recent. Textile, understood in its greatest formal diversity, is the medium through which the designer experiments in complete freedom and follows her instinct wherever it guides her. This is what happened with shibori, an ancient Japanese process that she learned self-taught and which consists of reserving certain areas of the fabric to prevent it from being dyed. The result is blue or black compositions whose design varies depending on the type of reserve applied (sewn, folded, twisted, knotted). Although there is some control, the final work is always subject to a degree of unpredictability much appreciated by the artist, whose main creative driving force is the surprise provided by his intuition and the laws of nature.
